Announcement of the judges of New Cosmos of Photography 2016 (the 39th contest)

Today, Canon Inc. announced the members of the judging committee for the New Cosmos of Photography 2016 (the 39th contest) photo competition. We welcome seven members to the judging committee.

Contest judges

• Anna Dannemann (Curator, The Photographers’ Gallery, London)
• Erin O’Toole (Curator, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art)
• Osamu James Nakagawa (Photographer)
• Tomoko Sawada (Artist)
• Hiraki Sawa (Artist)
• Toshio Shibata (Photographer)
• Minoru Shimizu (Photo critic)

Each of the seven contest judges will select one entry to receive an Excellence Award, and two entries for Honorable Mention.

These works will be given the right to appear at the New Cosmos of Photography Tokyo Exhibition 2016 to be held this November at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography. This year’s Grand Prize winner will be selected at the Grand Prize selection open committee meeting, which will be open to the public, and will be held during the period of the exhibition.
