Stopping one step sort of interesting
Loitering in the space between the mind and the body
Being drawn into that thing
The shame of never trying to see something legitimately before
The sensation that our souls have become meager
The unbearable loveliness of everything in this world
Doubt the universal of the past,
seek the universal of the future,
and love the universal before your eyes.
A sensation that lives everywhere.
A sensation that exists everywhere.
A sensation that relates everywhere.
A universal sense of existence
A universal sense of nature
A universal sense of connection
These are the universal outcomes of the repeated process of discovery, collection, and contemplation.
Entries form: Book (A4) with 447 photos
This strong work resonates with accidental encounters. Rather than focusing on peaks — what would be called events, the work provides hints of these peaks starting with what was photographed. It is a massive, yet carefully considered collection of pre-event situations. Placing all 447 pictures horizontally and framing them without any gaps deftly directs the viewer’s gaze toward a slowly building peak. The digital camera is said to have had a profound influence on photo works because of its nimbleness of not selecting the light source or brightness and its consistency from shot to shot. This underscores the admirable concentration of this photographer, who has strung together so many high-quality photos. The work’s suggestion of a complex world in the background is what makes this arduous simplification so enthralling.
