ARTIST STATEMENT

OSAKA

Wandering about the streets, I simply continue to collect in my camera things that are caught according to the desire of my eyes. Then I look through those fragments multiplying boundlessly on my computer, and check them with the scenes that I actually saw, in order to arrange and select them for prints. During that task, I remember how the surroundings of the town were at the time, trendy styles in fashion, or how I was feeling then. Sitting in front of those selected pieces, I ask myself what the common denominator of them all is. I realize then that all of them are linked with the key word “Osaka.” I understand that they show the fact; “This is the world around me.” Again I go out to the town to collect pieces of the world spreading around me. To me, taking pictures means a series of actions of “seeing,” “confirming,”“photographing,”and“recognizing” All I understand and can tell about my photographs are based only on my finished works for which I pressed the shutter, having an urge for expression. The world I should photograph is everchanging with a limitless expanse.
