Inheriting the basic features of the E80, Canon developed an easy-to-operate camcorder targeted at families. In addition to center-weighted average metering, which records the subject at the center of the screen with optimal brightness, the E30 featured dual beam AF that functioned to 60 cm throughout the zoom range, enabling users to shoot active children brightly and sharply. The E30 incorporated the dual-function button to reduce the number of control buttons, using different colors for easy operation.
