Inheriting the basic features of the A1D / A2Hi, Canon developed the world’s first video camcorder with interchangeable lenses. It used the VL mount system, and was targeting at pros and advanced amateurs. With the VL mount system, the lens data is transmitted between the camera and the interchangeable lens, allowing users to control functions such as autofocus and auto iris from the camcorder.
