The stylish EF-M22mm f/2 STM pancake lens features a compact, lightweight body design that measures only 23.7 mm in length and weighs approximately 105 g—an achievement made possible through a retractable lens design and the incorporation of an STM. Employing a glass-mold aspherical lens element, the new EF-M lens delivers a high-speed f/2 maximum aperture while achieving high-image-quality performance with high resolution and high contrast, even out to the peripheral areas of the image when shooting at a short distance from the subject. Furthermore, the combination of the lens’s high-speed maximum aperture and the EOS M’s large sensor size* makes possible highly expressive images that take advantage of the background-blur effect. The EF-M22mm f/2 STM’s floating focus system offers improved plane movement to deliver not only a minimum focusing distance of 0.15 m and a maximum magnification of 0.21x, but also improved image quality when shooting subjects up close. When the camera’s focus mode is set to AF + MF, the full-time manual focus function allows users to make quick manual adjustments to focus after AF is complete by simply turning the focusing ring.
