Featuring a compact and stylish body design, the EF-M55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM delivers convenient portability while also making possible impressive background blur characteristics to facilitate a wide range of photographic expression, including portrait shooting and landscape photography.
This lens’s short back focus, combined with the effective placement of a glass-molded aspherical lens element and a UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) lens element, makes possible high-quality imaging performance throughout the entire zoom range. Compared with the EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM interchangeable lens for EOS-series cameras, a model in the same class as the new lens, the EF-M55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM’s compact, lightweight design achieves reductions of approximately 22% in length and approximately 31% in weight. Featuring a maximum diameter that is unified with the other models in the EF-M lens series, the new model realizes the EOS M series’ product concept of image quality on a par with the company’s EOS series of digital SLR cameras in a compact and lightweight design.
The new EF-M lens employs a lead-screw-type stepping motor for exceptionally quiet and smooth autofocus performance, not only when capturing still images but also when shooting movies.
