This TS-E lens, which makes possible perspective-control1 image capture and is part of the Company’s EF series of lenses for EOS-series interchangeable lens cameras.
The lens features a Tilt function to adjust the optical axis of the lens and a Shift function to move the lens parallel to the axis. These functions control the dynamic between the optical axis and imaging field for such effects as controlled perspective and a tilted the focal plane.
This lens features superlative optical performance befitting the L (Luxury) series of EF lenses. Employing Ultra Low Dispersion (UD) lens elements as part of a new optical design, this lens makes possible high-resolution, high-contrast image capture with minimal color blur. The lens also employ a special Subwavelength Structure Coating (SWC) and Air Sphere Coating (ASC), which reduce the occurrence of flaring and ghosting.
The lens features a significantly increased maximum magnification of 0.5x, compared with the 0.16x magnification of the existing TS-E45mm f/2.8, to make possible macro image capture.
This TS-E lens achieves wide-ranging tilt and shift that—combined with a TS Revolving function, which allows the direction of movement of the tilt and shift to be changed to any angle from parallel to perpendicular—make possible diverse photographic expression.
1 Perspective control refers to operation that allows the control of the dynamic between the optical axis and imaging field. In an ordinary imaging device, the optical axis of the lens is perpendicular to the center of the imaging field.
