The EF-S18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM is a compact, lightweight standard zoom lens that covers a wide range of focal lengths, from 29 mm to 88 mm (35 mm film equivalent). The EF-S18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM features the same optics as its predecessor, the EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, while achieving a convenient grab-and-go compact design with an approximately 18% shorter¹ total length of 61.8 mm.

Equipped with a new IS unit, the EF-S18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM delivers image stabilization equivalent to 4 shutter-speed stops². The lens suppresses camera shake to make possible a wide range of handheld shooting, even in low-light environments. Equipped with a lead screw-type stepping motor (STM), the EF-S18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM achieves comfortable AF when shooting stills and videos and with its 7-bladed aperture achieves exquisite circular background blur.
