This was the first Canon with an all-diecast chassis. It had the same film advance and rewind knobs and single-piece viewfinder mode selector lever which were introduced on the III A. The camera was first called IV F and later renamed IV S.

Flash Sync Set automatically for FP-, F-, and M-sync (direct synchronization provided with flash rail).
Viewfinder Coincidence rangefinder integrated with reversed Galilean viewfinder rotatable to set one of three magnifications.

Frame Counter Manually set from 0 to 39 at base of camera-top rewind knob. Film speed indicator dial on top of rewind knob.
