This is an EOS-1N with Battery Pack BP-E1 attached. The Battery Pack uses four size-AA batteries and one 2CR5 lithium battery at the same time. You can flip a switch to switch between these two battery types. The longer grip also makes camera holding easier.

AE lock is automatic when focus is achieved in One-Shot AF and evaluative metering mode. Manual AE lock enabled with AE lock button in all metering modes.
