The EF70-200mm /f2.8L IS USM delivers the same exceptional level of optical performance as the EF70-200mm /f2.8L USM, launched in March 1995, which has won strong support among professional and high-end amateur photographers.
The new IS unit utilizes improved holding for the barrel of the supplementary optical system that provides smoother movement, achieving image stabilizing effects equivalent to approximately three stops. Additionally, the EF70-200mm /f2.8L IS USM is equipped with a new compact, lightweight, high-performance vibration gyro that, combined with improved signal processing circuits, makes possible image stabilization within approximately 0.5 seconds upon pressing the shutter button halfway.
The EF70-200mm /f2.8L IS USM also employs an optical design offering compatibility with digital SLR cameras and utilizes an optical system made entirely from environmentally friendly lead-free glass.
