This lens was developed as product in the same series as the FD35-70mm f/3.5-4.5, a standard zoom lens which was released in March 1983 with the T50 and has gained recognition for being compact and its excellent performance.
This is a wide-angle zoom lens that adopts a new 3-group zoom optical system that fixes part of the optical system to be ultracompact without losing definition.
It also has a zoom ratio of approximately 2x from the wide angle of 28mm to the standard 55mm, and a macro function enabling shooting down to 29cm from the film plane at all focal lengths, offering excellent cost performance while exhibiting the capability for a wide range of shooting as a new standard SLR camera lens.
