The RF-S10-18mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM is an ultra-wide angle zoom lens that provides users with enhanced freedom of expression. By covering the equivalent of approximately 16-29 mm in 35 mm format, it enables a wider range of shooting styles than a standard zoom lens. Users can take advantage of the wide angle of view for a variety of expressions in both still image and video shooting. For instance, with still image shooting, they can enjoy capturing dynamic landscapes and taking snapshots in narrow places where the distance from the subject is not sufficient, and can enjoy making video logs in their daily lives or travels with video shooting.

The lens achieves both a compact and lightweight design with excellent portability and high image quality throughout the entire zoom range. Its slender design, which harnesses the electronic distortion correction function of the camera, demonstrates excellent portability with a weight of 150 g and a total length of 44.9 mm (when retracted). By appropriately arranging 12 lenses in 10 groups, including 2 UD lenses*1 and 1 plastic molded aspherical lens, it achieves both a compact and lightweight design with a reduced number of lenses and excellent image quality performance. In addition, the effective placement of the UD lenses corrects chromatic aberration throughout the zoom range and achieves high image quality across the screen.

For close-up shooting using this lens, the minimum shooting distance is 0.14 m and the maximum shooting magnification is 0.23 times when shooting with AF*2, while the minimum shooting distance is 0.086 m and the maximum shooting magnification is 0.5 times when shooting with MF*3. When the subject is close, such as in tabletop shooting, this lens allows users to take pictures with a wide angle of view and beautiful bokeh that only an ultra-wide angle lens can provide. Moreover, since the lens uses a lead screw type stepping motor (STM), AF works naturally and smoothly during video recording, which meets the growing need for video recording for vlogs and social media.

*1 Lens made of UD (ultra-low dispersion) glass.
*2 The minimum shooting distance can be 0.14 m when the focal length is 10 mm-18mm. The maximum magnification can be 0.23 times when the focal length is 18 mm.
*3 The maximum shooting magnification can be 0.5 times and the shortest shooting distance can be 0.086 m when the focal length is 10 mm.
