The new RF-S series of lenses is designed for use with RF mount cameras with APS-C size CMOS sensors. This lens realizes compact and lightweight designs and provide the same high image quality and high performance of the EOS R system. RF-S lenses can even be used on full-frame EOS R cameras1, thus expanding the range of lenses for users to choose from.
Measuring approximately 44.3 mm in length and weighing approximately 130 g, the RF-S18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM realizes a compact and lightweight design that is easy to use. In addition, the lens' built-in image stabilization (IS) provides 4.0 stops2 of IS, and when paired with the EOS R7 camera, the lens IS and camera in-body image stabilization (IBIS) work in conjunction to provide up to 6.5 stops of IS2. What's more, the lens features a minimum autofocus distance of 0.20 m and close-up shooting with a maximum magnification ratio of 0.16 x3, making it ideal for a wide variety of use cases.
1 When used with a full-frame camera, the center portion of the imaging area will be cropped to an APS-C equivalent size.
2 When used with the EOS R10 at a focal length of 45 mm (35 mm film equivalent of 72 mm). Based on CIPA standards. Yaw/pitch directions. When used with the EOS R7 at a focal length of 45 mm (35 mm film equivalent of 72 mm). Based on CIPA standards. Yaw/pitch directions.
3 Minimum shooting distance of 0.20 m with focal length of 18 mm. Maximum magnification ratio of 0.16 with focal length of 45 mm.
