The RF200-800 mm F6.3-9 IS USM is an ultra-telephoto zoom lens that covers focal lengths from 200 mm to 800 mm. With its focal length of up to 800 mm, the longest in the world*1, the lens can grab and pull in the subject at a distance to fill the screen with powerful ultra-telephoto images. The lens can cover a wide range of focal lengths from wide angle to telephoto, allowing users to take shots of subjects whose movements are difficult to predict, such as wild birds, while continuing to follow the subject without changing the lens. The separately available extender works across the entire zoom range and extends the telephoto range to a focal length of 1600 mm*2.

Despite its compact and lightweight design, this lens offers high image quality across the entire zoom range. Although this lens is an ultra-telephoto zoom lens with a focal length of 200 mm to 800 mm, it is compact (total length: 314.1 mm) and lightweight (2,050 g), offering excellent mobility and portability for comfortable handheld shooting. A new optical design of 17 lenses in 11 groups, with 3 UD lenses*3 arranged effectively, corrects chromatic aberration throughout the zoom range, and provides clear images with minimal color bleeding.

Moreover, the lens offers powerful image stabilization and fast, smooth AF for shooting in a variety of situations. It incorporates a 5.5-stop*4 optical image stabilization mechanism. In addition, when combined with the EOS R series cameras featuring in-body image stabilization, the lens supports camera-lens cooperative image stabilization*5. Furthermore, thanks to the inclusion of Canon's proprietary Nano USM ultrasonic motor, it achieves high-speed, high-precision AF for still images and smooth AF for videos.

*1 Among AF-compatible interchangeable lenses for mirrorless cameras with full-size sensors, available as of November 1, 2023 (Canon research)
*2 When combined with the extender RF2x (released in July 2020). With the RF1.4x (released in July 2020), the focal length is extended to 1120 mm.
*3 Lenses made of UD(Ultra-low Dispersion)glass.
*4 Based on CIPA standard. When attached to EOS R (released in October 2018). At focal length of 800 mm. Yaw/pitch direction.
*5 The combination realizes 5.5-stop image stabilization at a focal length of 800 mm. Based on CIPA standard. When attached to the EOS R3 (released in November 2021). Yaw/pitch direction. The effect of the cooperative image stabilization decreases as the focal length increases, but it works more on the wide-angle side.
