The “RF-S3.9mm F3.5 STM DUAL FISHEYE” employs an optimum optical design suitable for APS-C cameras*1, consisting of 11 lenses, including 2 UD lenses*2, that have been configured effectively in 8 groups for high image quality across the entire view. Additionally, ASC (Air Sphere Coating) functional coating has been adopted to help reduce flares and ghosting, which tend to occur in lenses with large curvature.
With a depth of approximately 54.6mm and a weight of approximately 290g, the product achieves a compact and lightweight design by applying APS-C compatibility, making it perfect for carrying around. This product will be the first RF lens capable of shooting 3D VR video to come equipped with a stepper motor (STM)-driven AF mechanism*3 which works in coordination with the dual lenses, thereby enabling high-speed and high-precision AF with the same feeling of operability as typical RF lenses. Additionally, the angle of view has been set to 144° so that users can shoot comfortably without objects such as tripods disrupting a shot.
*1 Only compatible with the EOS R7 (released in June 2022) as of June 10, 2024. A firmware update scheduled for release in mid-June is required.
*2 A lens that utilizes UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) glass.
*3 Applicable range of AF is limited to a select area within the image circle. Servo AF cannot be used. Focus adjustments must be made prior to shooting video using either the One-Shot AF mode or the Manual Focus setting.
