      The EOS 5D Mark II took Camera of the Year honors for its evolution in image quality and user friendliness as well as for its high performance and rich functionality in many areas, including a newly developed 21.10 megapixel, 35mm full-frame CMOS image sensor, the advanced DIGIC 4 image processor, and a refined Live View function. The camera was also lauded for being the world’s first SLR camera able to record Full HD movies and for achieving excellent cost performance.

      1 2009 was the 26th edition of the Camera Grand Prix awards, which were first presented in 1984. Canon won the Camera of the Year award for the eighth time overall in 2009, the first time in six years since the EOS-1Ds, the first professional digital SLR camera to be equipped with a 35mm full-frame CMOS image sensor, won the award in 2003.
