Grand Prize Winner of the New Cosmos of Photography 2019 Special Exhibition

Artists : Tomomichi Nakamura
Title : Ants
Artists' intent : Art is, of course, is created from the perspective of the artist themselves, but how does that perspective appear to others who inhabit the same world?
I created this work from the perspective of how I see ants, as well as the perspective of how a far more powerful existence—one I would be powerless against—would see me in the same way that I see those ants. This is expressed through the use of ants, who like us, are social creatures.
But are ants really such tiny, insignificant beings? I myself am but one small existence, yet my insignificance is merely relative to the size of the social unit I am viewed as part of.
