and Technologies that commercialize products, Canon creates competitive products that deliver value.
Product Business Group
Technologies that commercialize products
Technologies that commercialize products are the capabilities that integrate Canon’s accumulated
technologies into valuable products that meet quality, cost, and delivery (QCD)
requirements.
Through close collaboration between design and engineering, Canon creates highly
competitive products that offer usability, safety, and high quality.
Technologies that go into products
(Core Competency Technologies, Fundamental Technologies)
Technologies that go into products are Canon’s core competency technologies and fundamental
technologies that enable faithful image and video capture, the creation of value from images and
videos, and the output of images and videos true to their intended purpose.
By combining multiple technologies such as optics, materials, and image processing, these technologies
enhance the competitiveness of Canon’s products.
Technologies that support products
(Value Creation Technologies)
Technologies that support products are value creation platform technologies consisting of five
platforms: development and design, manufacturing, optics, materials, and digital technologies.
Technologies cultivated within each platform work in close collaboration to support product quality
and competitiveness.
Global R&D
The Canon group conducts business around the world. Today, sales outside of Japan account for approximately 80% of Canon’s consolidated net sales. To ensure that the research work from Canon’s global R&D locations expands into businesses, Canon’s developers actively collaborate and engage in exchanges with research institutes.
