Canon receives Gold Award for PowerShot V10 Vlog camera and Silver Award for Aquilion ONE / INSIGHT Edition X-ray CT scanner at DFA Design for Asia Awards 2024
TOKYO, November 1, 2024—Canon Inc. announced today that it received the Gold Award for PowerShot V10, a Vlog camera, and the Silver Award for Aquilion ONE / INSIGHT Edition1 X-ray CT scanner at the DFA Design for Asia Awards 2024 hosted by the Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC).
The Gold Award-winning PowerShot V10 is a Vlog camera that features a 1" CMOS sensor and large-diameter microphone for achieving high image and audio quality in a compact body which can easily be carried in a small bag. It employs a vertical design suitable for single-hand shooting and an easy-to-understand and simple UI (user interface) to display carefully designed minimal information, making it easy for even first-time camera users to enjoy full-fledged video shooting. In addition to handheld shooting, the camera is equipped with an internal and collapsible stand that can be used to adjust the camera angle, thereby allowing users to set the device down flexibly to desired angles without a tripod. This product has garnered widespread praise for its design, having received the Good Design Award 2023 (Japan), as well as the internationally prestigious iF DESIGN AWARD 2024 (Germany), Red Dot Design Award 2024 (Switzerland), and the 2024 IDEA Award (U.S.).
The Aquilion ONE / INSIGHT Edition, which was honored with the Silver Award, is a flagship CT scanner. It supports the workflow of CT examinations, which are becoming more complex as functions grow more advanced, through automation technology developed using AI2. The built-in Canon-made camera detects the patient’s body position, after which the device quickly and automatically adjusts the positioning of the patient’s body. By automating procedures which previously took a great deal of time to perform manually, the device helps to ease the operator’s workload and improve workflow. In addition, the round and streamlined form ensures that doctors and technicians have an uninterrupted line of flow while working and also show consideration for the mental and physical burden of examinations for patients by giving the sections that come into direct contact with the patient’s body a smooth, round shape to convey a gentle impression. This product was also honored with the Good Design Award in 2024.
Encouraged by the recognition of these awards, Canon will continue striving to create products that expertly blend excellent design with outstanding performance.
