Canon receives top-level Supplier Engagement Leader award from international non-profit organization CDP program recognizing supplier engagement
TOKYO, August 4, 2025—Canon Inc. announced today that the company has been named a Supplier Engagement Leader in the 2024 CDP Supplier Engagement Rating by the U.K. based non-profit organization CDP1 for the fourth time since 2022.

The Supplier Engagement Rating recognizes companies that work effectively with suppliers toward efforts to respond to climate change. Companies from around the world are surveyed, with only those who receive the highest evaluation earning the title of Supplier Engagement Leader.
Under its corporate philosophy of kyosei, Canon aims to realize a society that achieves a beneficial balance between lifestyle enrichment and the environment. In 2008, the company established a target of an average annual 3% improvement in the index of life cycle CO2 emissions per product unit, and aims to sustainably reduce product life cycle CO2 emissions not only at its own facilities, but also in the emissions of its partners throughout the company’s supply chain.
As for initiatives toward supplier engagement to achieve its medium-term goals, Canon works together with suppliers to reduce CO2 through measures such as visualizing CO2 emissions and adopting materials and parts that produce low amounts of CO2 emissions. Furthermore, in order to address key issues such as climate change, Canon has formulated and distributed guidelines which compile requests for cooperation and surveys to business partners, and works to strengthen sustainability procurement in supply chains. In addition, GHG emission data including Scope 3 is assured2 by a third-party entity. Canon recognizes that such initiatives for sustainability led to its selection as a Supplier Engagement Leader.
Together with its suppliers, Canon promotes initiatives towards net-zero GHG emissions throughout the life cycle of its products.
