Canon deploys largest photographer support operation at 2026 Asian Games
TOKYO, September 15, 2026—Canon Inc. and Canon Marketing Japan Inc. today announced that Canon will deploy support operations for photographers and also provide technical support for broadcasters covering the 2026 Asian Games. Canon is an official partner of the Games, which will be held primarily in Nagoya.
Canon will operate photographer support facilities at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium and the Main Press Center, with the latter being the largest support facility of its kind at the Games.
Based on its “Zero Downtime” vision, Canon will draw on five decades of experience at major sporting events to help accredited photographers keep downtime to an absolute minimum throughout the Games. Experienced technical staff will provide maintenance and repair services, while replacement equipment will be loaned free of charge when needed. A broad selection of Canon equipment will be available, including the flagship EOS R1 mirrorless camera, the EOS R5 Mark II, and super-telephoto lenses.
Canon will also provide technical support for broadcasters during the Games. Canon technicians will visit competition venues to inspect and maintain broadcast lenses used for television coverage. At the International Broadcasting Center, Canon staff will provide technical support for broadcast production systems used by broadcasters from across Asia.
