Canon Virginia -Beehive Installation and Pollinator Garden Development

Canon Virginia based in Newport News, Virginia. We are working to create a habitat environment that takes advantage of our vast site.

Beehive Installation and Pollinator Garden Development

With its extensive green spaces, Canon Virginia focuses on addressing the decline of pollinators such as honeybees, which are losing their natural habitats. The site is committed to creating an environment that supports coexistence with nature. Beehives have been installed on the premises to provide habitat for honeybees while promoting the pollination of native plants in the surrounding area. Honeybees play a vital role in supporting the reproduction of many plant species, and their conservation contributes to the overall health of ecosystems.

In addition, a pollinator garden has been established on land that once housed manufacturing facilities. The garden is planted with native plant species suited to the local environment, with the aim of creating a habitat where pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and wasps can easily gather and thrive. Through the planting of native species, the initiative supports the preservation of the region's natural environment and biodiversity. Alongside these environmental improvements, Canon Virginia also works to deepen employee understanding of the initiative by hosting events that provide opportunities to learn about the importance of honeybees and the benefits they bring to nature. Honey harvested from the beehives is shared and sold to employees, helping them feel a closer connection to nature while fostering internal engagement and participation.
