Canon designs recognized with iF Design Awards for 21st consecutive year, Océ PlotWave 500 wins top honors

TOKYO, March 2, 2015—Canon Inc. announced today that eight Canon designs were recognized by iF International Forum Design GmbH with prestigious 2015 iF Design Awards in the product design and packaging design categories. Notably, the Océ PlotWave 500 monochrome large-format printing system was selected for the iF Gold Product Design Award 2015, the highest honor in the product category.

In addition to the Océ PlotWave 500 monochrome large-format printing system, which won the iF Gold Product Design Award 2015, the following six Canon products received 2015 iF Product Design Awards: the PowerShot N100 digital compact camera, the EF200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x super-telephoto zoom lens, the XF205/XF200 professional-model Full HD camcorder, the MAXIFY MB5350 (MB5320 in the Americas, MB5330 in Japan) series of business inkjet printers*, the Océ ColorWave 500/700 color large-format printing system, and the Océ ColorWave 900 color wide-format printer. Furthermore, the packaging design for Canon EF-series lenses was recognized with the iF Packaging Design Award 2015.

Established in 1953, iF Design Awards are recognized as one of the most prestigious awards within the field of design. This year's awards honored outstanding design achievements across five disciplines: product, packaging, communication, interior architecture, and professional concept design.

Canon won its first iF Product Design Award in 1989 for an office copying machine and, since that time, has been awarded for a wide range of products, including cameras, video camcorders and copying machines. This year marks Canon's 21st consecutive year of winning iF Design Awards. Encouraged by the recognition of the Company's design excellence, Canon will continue striving to realize products that combine the highest levels of performance and design.
