Supporting JPO's Anti-Counterfeiting Campaign

The Japan Patent Office (JPO) has been conducting a public relations campaign to inform consumers of the importance of protecting intellectual property and combating counterfeit products since 2003. A mascot character modeled on an otter (“Kawauso” in Japanese) named "Kawanzo” (which means “I would never buy it (counterfeit)!” in Japanese) was newly created for the campaign, and a new slogan "We All Otter Be Against Counterfeit Products!" matching this mascot has been released.
Canon participates in this campaign by supporting JPO to appropriately teach high school students about counterfeit products through its IP infringement prevention education program.
