Canon Joined JPO's Anti-Counterfeit Campaign in Collaboration with Mascot "Kawanzo-chan"

Canon participated in the Japan Patent Office's (JPO) Anti-Counterfeiting Campaign.
This campaign aims to widely communicate—particularly to the younger generation in their teens and twenties—that counterfeit goods not only infringe on intellectual property rights of others, but also often pose quality issues and can put users' safety at risk.
As part of the campaign, Canon collaborated with "Kawanzo-chan (which means "I would never buy it (counterfeit)" in Japanese)," an otter ("Kawauso" in Japanese) character that promotes combating counterfeit products, in a short video. In the video, Kawanzo-chan explains the danger of counterfeit batteries as well as tips to be aware of when purchasing genuine batteries, in a clear and easy-to-understand way.
Canon will continue to focus on educational activities to provide young people with accurate knowledge about counterfeit products.
