World Customs Organization (WCO) Students Visit Canon

Aoyama Gakuin University Graduate School annually accepts customs officials from developing countries (mainly from Africa, Asia and Latin America) under the World Customs Organization (WCO) scholarship program for human resource development. As part of a course on border enforcement of intellectual property infringing products, the customs officials from various countries visited Canon. Canon gave lectures on its business activities, basic policy on anti-counterfeiting and actual border enforcement actions, and exchanged opinions with customs officials. In addition to the lecture, Canon taught the participants how to tell the difference between genuine and counterfeit products by showing actual samples.
NHK WORLD-JAPAN covered the study abroad program and interviewed the participants. As part of the coverage, Canon introduced its initiatives against counterfeiting and the importance of cooperation with customs authorities.
